Maritess Possesses the supreme skill of mentalism. Using the principles of magic, she is able to present the ability of mind reading, mind control-manipulation of thoughts and behavior.

She is also highly skilled in the art of sleight-of hand. Maritess apprenticed with legendary magician Gary Darwin, in Las Vegas for seven years.

Bio


Maritess was born and raised in Chicago where she studied sculpture, painting and art history in college.

She later dropped out of art school to become a magician in Las Vegas.

Zurbano says she started in magic because she would do anything to find unconditional love.

Beginning her career as a close-up selight-of-hand artist with an expertise in card and coin magic helped her deal blackjack at every major casino.

She also worked as a fortune teller and baccarat player before becoming part of a gambling team.

Maritess apprenticed with renown magician, Gary Darwin, in Las Vegas for seven years.With Darwin, Maritess became skilled in mentalism, magic and sleight-of -hand. In 2000 she was nominated for competition in the Federacion Internacionale Societe Magique 2000 in Portugal, considered the Olympics of Magic.

In 2002 Maritess has toured with her successful full stage illusion show "Maritess: Queen of Magic" throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia.

"Queen of Magic" is a true-life magic show, exhibited through her illusions her struggle as a suicidal teen who escapes her haunted past through discovering love in the subculture of magic.

Maritess transports her audience to magical events in her life using ghost manipulation, psychological transformations and skilled sleight-of-hand.

That same year, she showcased a limited-run performance called "GIRLIEMAGIC: THE LIFE OF A PROFESSIONAL FEMALE MAGICIAN," in New York.

This show is a compilation of 12 years of wonderful friendships, magical moments, education and blatant misogynistic hatred she's received from the magic community.

Following a the successful summer run of "Queen of Magic" and "GIRLIEMAGIC," Maritess launched "True Magic Stories," a magical opus enriched by an affinity for storytelling, blended with dark humor.

Maritess has been featured on Lifetime Television, Newsday, VH1 and in media around the world, including Japan’s TV network, NHK.
