Doc Eason possesses the ability of superior manual dexterity, misdirection and showmanship skills in the art of magic. He is a specialist in the field of bar magic, and is recognized as one of the premier bar magicians of our time.
Eason received his nickname "Doc" in the 1970's when he was a manager of a health food store. The name carried over into his magic career and has been his stage name ever since.
Doc Eason was born July 22, 1947 in Naugatuck, Connecticut.
Eason was initially exposed to magic in is early teens when he received a Johnson Smith catelog. However, it wasn't until the 1970's when he started his magic career.
On his 30th birthday, Eason decided to take a motorcycle trip for the summer. As if by fate, Eason ended up in Snowmass Village, Colorado, home of the world famous Tower Bar once owned by John Denver.
There, he met magic maestro Bob Sheets. From that moment on, Doc Eason would never be the same.
Under the tutelage of Bob Sheets, Eason became highly adept in the magical arts. Eason was also influenced by other professional magicians, including Steve Spill, J.C. Wagner, Bob Read, Eddie Houlihan and Eddie Goldstein.
Eason developed and polished his own act, blending magic and comedy. He honed in specifically in the branch of bar magic, also known as pub magic.
From 1977 to 2004, he was the featured entertainer at John Denver's Tower Comedy/ Magic Bar.
He is also a corporate entertainer, a lecturer, public speaker, author, teacher, consultant and was involved in the Fox TV show "Masters of Illusion."
He talks to corporate and association groups about "The Therapy of Laughter" and connecting with customers. His remarkable memory for names is just one of his trademarks.
Eason has lectured on the subject of bar magic to magicians all over the US as well as Australia, Canada, England, Scotland, Netherlands, Austria, Germany, Denmark, Sweden and Norway and most recently Japan.
His work has advanced the Card under Glass plot to a much greater height. He is also best known for his version of Bill in lemon and Card on Ceiling.
In 2004 he was the recipient of the first ever W. C. Fields Magic Bartender of the Year by the prestigious Magic Castle in Hollywood, where he regularly performs.
In 2008, he was recently awarded Closeup Magician of the Year from the Magic Castle in Hollywood.
In 2009, he was awarded Closeup Magician of the Year and Lecturer of the Year.
In 2012, he was selected Best Closeup Magician from a Reader's poll on magic.about.com.
