Interesting Fact

Cassidy is a huge fan of American author Robert Anton Wilson.

Bob Cassidy was born June 23, 1949 in Kearny, New Jersey. Cassidy entered the world of show business at the age of twelve, appearing on television’s "Original Amateur Hour" as a magician.

Later, while serving overseas as a naval communications specialist, he developed the unique and strangely compelling act that he has refined ever since, in which he demonstrates a virtually photographic memory together with a highly honed intuitive ability that enables him to quite literally read the minds of audience members.

Since then Cassidy has performed throughout the world on cruise ships and in showplaces and theaters throughout the United States. After shocking audiences in New York with a telepathic, and somewhat terrifying version of Russian Roulette, he was invited to perform at Hollywood's famed Magic Castle, where he still occasionally appears.

He's appeared frequently on American television and over the last year and a half has worked with the "Discovery Channel," completed a pilot for a show tentatively titled “JudgeMental” (in which Cassidy, as the title character, demonstrates his abilities in real life courtroom situations), and Headlined at “MindVention” in Las Vegas (2009, 2010),

He also returned for two week-long engagements at the Magic Castle and was a featured performer and lecturer in Universal City at the “Meeting of the Minds” - the annual gathering of the Psychic Entertainers Association, the preeminent international society of mentalists and mystery performers.

While Cassidy claims that his ability is actually a “scientific form of thought reading,” he denies being psychic in the traditional sense of the word.

He claims that his startling performances of thought reading are simply the result of the applied principals of mentalism, psychology and science, combined with his innate intuitive abilities.

In 1978, Cassidy and fellow mentalists Tony Raven, Scott Gordon, Mary Lynn, and Dian Buelmeier, co-founded the "Psychic Entertainers Association" (P.E.A.), which has since become mentalism's primary international professional society.

Cassidy has garnered numerous prestigious awards, including "Mentalist of the Year" (1987) at Legendary 13 Invitational, Newark, New Jersey; was the first recipient of the Psychic Entertainers Association's "David Lederman Award for Creativity in Mentalism" (1996), P.E.A. "Silver Seer Award" (2003) and "Psychic Entertainers Association Life Membership Award."

As an author, Cassidy has penned many books widely regarded as classics in the field, including "The Art of Mentalism" (1983), "The Principia Mentalia" (1994), "The Artful Mentalism of Bob Cassidy," (2004) and was editor of Vibrations, newsletter of the P.E.A., from 1978 - 1981, and 1984.

He has also produced instructional DVD's, including "Bob Cassidy's Mental Miracles," and "Black Box Cinema: A Crash Course In Mentalism Techniques."
